Our Commitment

Footy Bets exists to provide honest, data-driven AFL betting analysis. We take editorial integrity seriously because our credibility is the only thing that makes us worth reading.

Editorial Independence

Our editorial team operates independently from our commercial team. This means:

  • Affiliate relationships never influence content. Our reviews, ratings, rankings, and tips are produced without input from affiliate partners. No partner has pre-publication review or approval rights over any content.
  • Rankings are formula-driven. Bookmaker rankings are generated using a transparent, weighted scoring system based on objective criteria (see our Rankings Methodology). The formula does not include a variable for affiliate commission rates.
  • Tips are model-driven. Our match previews and tips are based on our proprietary statistical model (see our Methodology). They are not influenced by which bookmaker offers the best commission.

Content Standards

Accuracy

We verify facts before publication. Statistics are sourced from official AFL data, Champion Data (via AFL Tables), and licensed bookmaker feeds. When we use estimates or projections, we label them clearly.

Transparency

We show our working. Our Methodology page explains how our model works. Our Track Record page shows our actual results — including losses. We don't hide bad calls.

Corrections

When we get something wrong, we fix it promptly and transparently. See our Corrections Policy for how we handle errors.

Responsible language

We follow ACMA guidelines on gambling advertising. We do not:

  • Guarantee or imply guaranteed returns from betting
  • Use language that trivialises the risks of gambling
  • Target content at individuals under 18
  • Promote in-play betting via online channels (prohibited under Australian law)
  • Reference credit card betting (banned under ACMA rules from 11 June 2024)

Author Attribution

All published content is attributed to named authors or to the Footy Bets editorial team. We do not publish anonymous content. Our founders' profiles and credentials are on the About page.

Review Process

Content goes through the following steps before publication:

  1. Research and drafting — The author gathers data, builds the analysis, and writes the piece.
  2. Fact-checking — A second team member verifies key claims, statistics, and odds.
  3. Editorial review — The piece is reviewed for clarity, accuracy, tone, and compliance with our content standards.
  4. Publication and monitoring — After publication, we monitor for errors and update as needed.
